Swipe left from the main screen to open Call View and speak with another GeiDeLei user, anywhere — GeiDeLei translates the conversation live for both sides, right through the call. Both people need the app installed; invite anyone who doesn't have it yet in a couple of taps.

Share a GeiDeLei invite over iMessage, SMS, email, or any messaging app you already use — the person you're calling will need to install GeiDeLei to join.
Once your contact has the app and joins from the invite, the call connects and translation switches on automatically.

Every call is fully encrypted. Anything that passes through the server can't be read by the server itself — the conversation stays between you and the person you're calling.

GeiDeLei (the app) is provided as-is. The user interface is intentionally simple and self-explanatory.
The app relies on third-party services that are freely available. In this sense, GeiDeLei acts as a convenient browser that lets you use these web services and interpret the results in a practical, hands-free way. These services may be changed, removed, or updated at any time, as they are not part of the app itself.
GeiDeLei provides instant hands-free translation of a single word or short sentence. Simply tap the microphone button and it will listen continuously.
Switch to Alternate mode and enjoy dialogue with yourself: say a word in your language, hear the translation, and repeat it back. This makes learning new languages easy and completely hands-free. Many languages are supported.

Privacy promise: GeiDeLei does not collect any user data, does not require sign-up or an account, has no in-app purchases, and is completely free. The developer’s goal is to keep the app connected to the best available free services so translation remains low-cost and accessible.
GeiDeLei ("the app") is built to do one thing — listen to a word, translate it, and speak it back — without collecting, storing, or selling any personal information about you.
Speech recognition happens entirely on your device using Apple's built-in Speech framework — the audio never leaves your phone for this step.
To translate the recognized word, the app sends that single word (not a recording, not any other information) to one of the following third-party translation services, depending on which one you've selected in the app's settings:
These services receive only the text of the word being translated and the source/ target language codes — no name, no device identifier, no account, no location. We don't control these third-party services and encourage you to review their own privacy practices if you'd like more detail. This transmission happens only while you're actively using the app to translate; nothing is sent in the background.
The app asks for microphone and speech recognition access solely to hear the word you want translated. These permissions are used only while the app is open and actively listening, and you can revoke them at any time in Settings → GeiDeLei.
GeiDeLei does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information from anyone at all.
If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version of the app adds a feature that involves data collection — this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will reflect that.
